Haunted happenings: Area filled with bone-chilling activities as Halloween nears

It had to happen at some point. Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, which will likely cause ghosts and goblins to amp up their tricks while in search of treats. But one doesn’t have to wait until Oct. 31 to find reasons to hide under the bed or make a quick call to Mom for comfort. Witches, skeletons and monsters are already on standby. Here is a sampling of what to expect during the next two weeks.
