Collecting ideas: Area officials tour neighbors’ waste sites

Washington County Justice of the Peace Steve Zega looks at stacks of aluminum cans Wednesday during a tour of Fayetteville’s Solid Waste and Recycling Facility. Elected officials from Benton, Madison and Washington counties toured a variety of solid waste facilities to exchange ideas.

Wanting to get a better idea of how different solid waste and recycling operations function, approximately 30 city and county officials from throughout Northwest Arkansas took part in a tour of three local waste management facilities on Wednesday.
