Fort Smith police arrest two in beating death

FORT SMITH — An Arkansas man and an Oklahoma woman have been arrested for manslaughter in the beating death of a Fort Smith man.
Fort Smith Police Sgt. Levi Risley says Robert Cheater of Fort Smith and Karrie Cheater of Muldrow are accused in the beating death of 46-year-old Daniel Bittner. Police say the Cheaters are related but did not say how.
Investigators say Bittner was beaten Sunday after insulting Karrie Cheater while drinking with the Cheater’s and another person. He died Monday at Sparks Regional Medical Center.
