Petition calls for dissolving town of Beaver

LITTLE ROCK A business owner in the small northwestern Arkansas town of Beaver is leading a petition drive to dissolve the town.
Susan Simler says there are currently two vacancies on the five-member town council. One position has been vacant since last fall - the other since July.
Simler says her goal is twofold. She wants people to wake up and become interested in serving the town or to dissolve it.
But council member Pamela Teslow says while she agrees there is a lack of civic participation - she is challenging those circulating and signing the petition to volunteer and become active in the town's government.
