Court allows ex-inmate's suit about childbirth

Woman can sue guard, not director, over being chained

The U.S. Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals at St. Louis breathed some new life Friday into a federal lawsuit against the Arkansas Department of Correction by a former inmate, who claimed that a guard's decision to shackle her during childbirth violated her constitutional protections against cruel and unusual punishment.
