Arkansas’ basketball team sunk deeper into the abyss Sunday, losing to South Alabama 74-61 before an announced crowd of 5,187 at Walton Arena.

The Razorbacks, who played the Jaguars (6-2) without injured senior forward Michael Washington, have lost three consecutive nonconference home games for only the second time in their history of 86 seasons.

The first time it happened was during the 1955-56 season, when Arkansas lost to Southeastern Oklahoma State (65-64), Tulsa (53-45) and Missouri (51-50).

“I’m having a hard time even speaking right now because I’m so frustrated,” Arkansas sophomore guard Rotnei Clarke said. “I hate losing. ... I know our team hates losing.
