SPRINGDALE A pet-sitting service and a restaurant recently opened in Washington County.
Sheri Jensen of Farmington bought a Fetch! Pet Care of Northwest Arkansas franchise for $5,000 in early November.
Fetch! has four part-time employees who will pet-sit cats, dogs and other animals at Jensen’s home or at the pet owner’s home. The service covers all of Benton and Washington counties, Jensen said.
The pet owner provides supplies, such as pet food, leashes and medication for the duration of the pet sitting.
Jensen said she has 45 to 50 clients and worked with a FETCH! franchise for two years before buying her own. She said her business is bonded and insured.
Fetch! Pet Care was founded in 2002 and has more than 1,800 service areas in the United States, according to a news release.
The Wagon Wheel Country Cafe opened Oct. 5 at 4080 N. Thompson St. in Springdale.
Owner Linda Bryant said this is the first business she owns, but she has managed the George Junior High School cafeteria since the school opened in Springdale. She has a total of 28 years in cafeteria work with the Springdale School District.
The Wagon Wheel Country Cafe serves breakfast, lunch and dinner from 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturdays. Bryant said the restaurant is closed Sundays and does not serve alcohol.
The cafe serves what Bryant calls old-fashioned home cooking, like chicken fried steaks, gravy, hamburgers and vegetables.
The cafe has about 3,750 square feet, including a banquet room for private parties or meetings, and about 25 employees, most of whom work part-time, Bryant said.
She invested about $40,000 to start the restaurant, including building renovations and buying kitchen equipment and furnishings.
The building used to be Hobo Joe’s restaurant, but more recently was a Mexican clothing store and a pawn shop.
