$1.5 million injury award in legislative session lineup

Legislators during the 2010 legislative session will decide whether to follow the recommendation of the state Claims Commission and pay a Des Arc man $1.5 million for injuries suffered due to negligence by the state Highway and Transportation Department. The award to Jeremy Kirkland, recommended earlier this month, is the secondhighest by the commission in at least the past 10 years, said Norman Hodges, executive director of the commission.
