Schools Receive Grants For Recycling

— Eight area schools were awarded a total of $3,450 in grants to help their recycling efforts.

The grants are from the Boston Mountain Solid Waste District. The grant program is a cooperative effort between the schools, the Washington County Environmental Affairs office and the waste district. The maximum grant is $500.

This was the first time grants were awarded to Happy Hollow Elementary School and Owl Creek School in Fayetteville, Lincoln Elementary School in Lincoln and Elkins Primary School, said Maylon Rice, director of the waste district.

Other recipients are Greenland High School, Greenland Middle School, Randal G. Lynch Middle School in Farmington and West Fork Middle School.
