BENTONVILLE A man suspected in a number of bank robberies won’t have to post another bond to be released from the Benton County Jail
Anthony Timothy Barnes, 31, of Rogers already is charged with robbing two banks in Rogers, but was arrested earlier this month in connection with a third bank robbery — also in Rogers.
Barnes was free on $200,000 bond at the time of his Nov. 10 arrest. He was already charged with two counts of aggravated robbery, a class Y felony; and theft of property, a class B felony. Barnes was arrested in connection with the July 3 robberies at the First Federal Bank at 1303 W. Hudson Road and Bank of Ozarks at 800 N. 47th St.
Following his initial arrest, Barnes was identified as a suspect in another bank robbery in Rogers and similar crimes in Washington County.
Barnes’ latest arrest is in connection with the May robbery of First Western Bank in Rogers. He was being held in the county jail on $50,000 bond.
On Wednesday morning, Drew Ledbetter, Barnes’ attorney, asked Circuit Judge David Clinger to allow the original $200,000 bond to cover all three crimes. Clinger granted the request.
Barnes faces charges of aggravated robbery, theft of property and false imprisonment in the first degree. Prosecutors have not filed formal charges in the latest arrest.
Barnes was first arrested July 3 after a global positioning system tracking device led Rogers police to his home. The unit was placed in a bag, along with money, after Barnes allegedly robbed the Bank of the Ozarks, according to court documents. Police believe Barnes had earlier that day made an unsuccessful attempt to rob First Federal Barnes.
Barnes has not been arrested in connection with any of the Washington County robberies.
