Effie C. Harris
GRAVETTE — Effie C. Harris, 96, of Gravette, Ark., died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009 at Highland Health Care in Bella Vista. She was born on Sept. 28, 1913 in Southwest City, Mo., to John Pritchard and Adeline Locke Pritchard.
She was raised and educated in Southwest City, Mo. Effie married Berl L. Harris in 1938 in Beaty, Ark. They farmed in the Gravette, Ark., area. She was a very faithful member of the Maysville Missionary Baptist Church for many years. She was an avid quilter and handmade many quilts. She also enjoyed cooking for her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Berl L. Harris; son, Bobby Gene Harris; grandson, Lonnie Kale Harris; one brother, A.J. Pritchard; sisters, Hazel Shobe, Winnie Parish, Ola Pritchard, and Dorothy Lou Worthen.
She is survived by two sons, Dick Harris of Gravette, Ark.; Berl Dean Harris and wife, Mary, of Gravette, Ark.; fourteen grandchildren and twenty-six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 27, 2009 at the Bella Vista Funeral Home Chapel, 2258 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista, Ark. Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009 at the Maysville Missionary Baptist Church in Maysville, Ark., with Pastor Raymond Scott officiating. Burial will be at the Lee Cemetery in Sulphur Springs, Ark.
