WES ANTHONY “TONY” CRITTENDON, 52, Sherwood, passedaway Friday, Nov. 20, 2009. He worked for Union Pacific Railroad for 30 years and was a member of B.L.E.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Sharon Stracener Crittendon; son, Jeremy Crittendon; daughter, Lindsey Nicole Crittendon, all of Sherwood; brother, Danny Crittendon of Mississippi; two sisters, Ann Tomasello of Collierville, Tenn., and Kay Nunn of Missouri; mother, Jane Crittendon of Memphis, Tenn.; and a host of extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Rice Crittendon. Tony was a loving husband, father and son.

Sgt. 1st Class REGINALD BERNARD ESKEW, 49, of Little Rock, Ark., peacefully passed away on Sunday, Nov. 22, 2009. He was a longtime faithful member of St. Mark Church in Little Rock, Ark.
His father, Rev. Woodrow Eskew, and three sisters preceded him in death. His loving survivors are one daughter, Imani Eskew;mother, Clara Eskew; mother of his daughter, Victoria Eskew; three sisters; five brothers; one uncle; three aunts; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
A celebration of his life will be Monday, Nov. 30, 2009, 12 noon at St. Mark Church, 5722 W. 12th St., Little Rock, Ark. Interment will follow at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery, 1501 W. VERA RENEAY ROGERS FULTON, 44, of Little Rock, Ark .,passed away on Nov. 20, 2009. She was born Dec. 29, 1964, to the late Dorothy Turner and Junior Turner. She professed her life to Christ at a early age.
She leaves to mourn herdeath longtime companion, Kenneth Clay Sr.; three children, Larry Bland Jr. (Jackie), Dwight Montgomery (Sheena) and Kenneth Clay Jr. Vera has two sisters, Jackie Rabion (Al) and Iris King (Kevin); two brothers, Earl Hughes and Michael Turner, all of Little Rock, Ark.; six grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.

EDMON “ED” JONES, age 86, of Roland, Ark., died Tuesday, Nov.24, 2009. He was born Feb. 25, 1923, in Izard County, Ark. He was of Baptist faith a member of Westrock Baptist Church, a Mason, and the Eastern Star.
A devotedfaithful leader in Christ, he was a friend to many. Self-employed for many years as owner and operator of a gas service station on Highway 10, west of Little Rock, and was recently known as “Pop” at Pop’s Parking Lot in Hot Springs, Ark., near Oaklawn Park.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Daisy Moody Jones of the home; three sons, Jarrett “Bud” (Betty) of Savannah, Tenn., James (Cindy) of Roland, Ark., Larry of Roland, Ark.; and one daughter, Linda (Danny) Gravitt of Roland, Ark. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Tina, Teddy, Timmy, Tyson, Eric, Tammy and Geneanne; 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Arlis of Wenatchee, Wash., Bill (Bernice) of Benton, Ark., Rudell (Lillie) of Tallahassee, Fla.; one sister, Zola Hall of Pauls Valley, Okla.; several nieces and nephews; a host of other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, J.F. Jones and Mittie Watson Jones Dockins; and one brother, Carroll; and one sister, Violet Sutherland.

JOHN W. MATHEWS, 82, of Little Rock departed this lifeTuesday, Nov. 24, 2009. Born Feb. 24, 1927, to the late Williams and Dosia Mathews. He is preceded in death by three brothers, William Ottis Mathews, Stanley Mathewsand Robert L. Mathews; and one sister, Edna Mathews Townsend.
John was a veteran of foreign war. He was a barber for 54 years before he retired in 2001. He was a hardworking man who enjoyed gardening, woodworking and being part of the pit crew of son-inlaw’s race car.
He is survived by his wife, Cecile Mathews; his sister, Ruth Mathews Snow and her husband Felton; a daughter, Ginger Herron and husband Gregg; a son, Gary Spear and wife Linda. He also had five stepchildren which all considered him their father, Ronnie Fisher and wife Tammy,Susan Benson and husband Chuck, Pam Nannie and husband Travis, Doug Fisher and wife Marcella, Rhonda Russell and husband Tom. He was also “Paw Paw” to seven grandchildren, Aunna Herron Jines and husband Walt, Mathew Spear, Shawn Fisher and wife Jennifer, Cody Fisher and wife Michelle, Bryant Steele and wife Pam, Shannon Steele, and Tisha Baker; His four-legged friends Foxy Snowflake and Lightening.

MAMIE BRYANT RUMPH, 87, of Little Rock, Ark., passed away peacefully on Nov. 21, 2009, in Fordyce, Ark.

AMITY - Mable Louise Bean, age 80, of Amity, died Tuesday,Nov. 24, 2009. She was born on June 23, 1929, at Glenwood, the daughter of Jewell Tackett and Vida Pounds Tackett. On July 10, 1948, she was married to Alton Bean, who preceded her indeath on Jan. 6, 1999.
She was also preceded in death by her son, Kenny Joe Bean; her parents; and her brother, Sonny Tackett. Mable and her husband founded Alton Bean Trucking Company in Amity where she worked and served as vice-president until her retirement. She was a member of the Amity First Baptist Church. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Cynthia Bean of Amity; her daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Gary Holmes of Caddo Gap; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and her brother, Jack Tackett of Glenwood.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009, in the Amity First Baptist Church with Bro. John McAnally officiating. Visitation will be Friday, 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., at the funeral home. ARKADELPHIA - Dr. Raymond Arthur Coppenger, 100, was bornon September 20, 1909, near Tellico Plains in East Tennessee. He was preceded in death in 2000 by Agnes, his dear wife of 56 years, and in 2007, by his beloved daughter Anne.
He is survived by his sister Dorothy, by his children, Mark and Susan, by his grandchildren, Caleb Coppenger, Jedidiah Coppenger, Chesed Broggi, John Akin, and Rebecca Copico, and by his six great-grandchildren, Alethia, Asher, Josiah, and Susannah Coppenger, Lois Broggi, and a baby Akin, due in April.
Dr. Coppenger was a Southern Baptist minister of the gospel, who pastored churches in Tennessee and Virginia, who served as a Navy chaplain in the Pacific in WWII, who was Baptist Student Union director at Auburn University and the University of Kentucky, and who was a religion and philosophy professor at three Baptist colleges in Tennessee before coming to Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, in 1954, where he served as chairman of the department and where he was appointed an emeritus professor in 1980. He earned the bachelors at Mercer University, the masters at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and the doctorate at the University of Edinburgh.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, at First Baptist Church, Arkadelphia, with Drs. Lee McGlone and Mark Coppenger presiding. Beginning at noon in the auditorium, visitation will precede the service. Burial will be at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. BENTON - Jessie Capps, age 87, of Benton, passed away Monday, November 23, 2009. She was born March 16, 1922 in White County, Arkansas to Edgar Murray and Margaret (Sprague) Murray. Mrs. Capps married Andrew Capps on June11, 1938 in Humphrey, Arkansas. They resided most of their years in Benton, Arkansas. She retired from Saline Memorial Hospital after 13 years.
Mrs. Capps was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers and three sisters. She is survived by six children, Bernice Trent of Blanchard, Oklahoma, Florence Smith of Haskell, Andrew Capps, Jr. of Lonsdale, Johnny Capps of Prue, Oklahoma, Helen Taylor of Benton and Tommy Capps of Haskell; 27 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren.

BENTON - Lynn Earl Goeman, age 81, of Benton, passedaway Monday, November 23, 2009. He was born April 20, 1928 in Antigo, Wisconsin to the late Fred and Louella Goeman. Mr. Goeman was a Korean War Army Veteran and ofthe Lutheran Faith.

BRYANT - Wayne Allen Zirkle, 68, of Bryant went hometo be with his wife of 48 years on November 21, 2009. He was a devoted, loving brother, husband and father. In his lifetime his interest ranged from being a produce manager to national sales manager to runninghis own courier service. In which he was passionate about driving and meeting new people along the way. He was always there to lend a helping hand. Wayne will be missed by many lives he touched.
Wayne is preceded in death by his wife, Judith Dale Zirkle. He is survived his daughter, Shannon Zirkle of Atlanta, Georgia; two sons, Shawn Zirkle of Bryant, and Tracy Zirkle of Montrose, Colorado; three grandchildren, Tyler, Brittany and Keshla all of Montrose and sister, Pat Schebel, of Des Moines, Iowa.

CABOT - Connie Albert Pearson, 65, of Cabot died Tuesday, November 24, 2009, in North Little Rock. He was born May 18, 1944, in Minter City, Mississippi, to the late Percy Albert Pearson and Jessie Edna Pearson Watts.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Billy Dean Pearson and Ricky Watts. He was a member of Jehovah’s Witness in Jacksonville. Mr. Pearson worked as an auto body technician.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Daisy Pearson of Cabot, son, Connie Drew Pearson of Malvern; two sisters, Mildred Junkin and her husband Cecil, and Pamela Utz and her husband, Harold of Cleveland, Mississippi; nephews, Bobby Sharron, Jr., Todd Sharron, and Jason Miller, and an uncle, Norris Jack Bennett and his wife Ann of Duncan, Mississippi.

HUMNOKE - Charles Glenn “Duke” Wilson, 64, died Tuesday, November 24, 2009, at Arkansas Hospice in Little Rock. Mr. Wilson was born August 27, 1945, in Humnoke to Charles M. and Birttrue Tew Wilson. He was employed at Producer’s Rice Mill in the maintenance department and member of Pentecostal Church of God in Humnoke.
His mother and two brothers, Bobby Wayne Wilson and Roger Dale Wilson, preceded him in death. Survivors are his wife Carolyn Guthrie Wilson; daughter, Teresa Bogy of Humphrey; two sons, Charles G. Wilson Jr. of Humnoke and Tommy Wilson of Stuttgart; brother, Benny Wilson of Humnoke; four sisters, Charlann Davenport of Woodlawn, Ark., Betty Billings of Sherwood, Erma Evans of Maumelle and Patsy Brewer of Scott; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

WITTS SPRINGS - E.H. “Johnny” Guyer, 91, of Witts Springs, passed from this life Tuesday, November 24, 2009. He was a veteran of WWII and in the banking business for 37 years. He retired from Simmons 1st National Bank as senior vice president and director of personnel. He was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Gussie Guyer. ST. LOUIS - Ruth McCown Gilliam, 80, received her angel wingson Saturday, November 21, 2009, leaving those who knew her with a lifetime of memories and life examples.
Ruth was renowned as a world traveler, avid bridge player, and friend toeveryone she met. She left this world as she lived it: caring more about everyone else than herself and not wanting to be a burden to anyone.
Ruth will be greatly missed by a multitude of friends and family. She leaves behind two brothers, Maxey and Jimmy; three sons, Scott, Patrick, and Mike; daughters-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, as well as many very close friends from her beloved Bridge Club, whom she also considered family.
There will be no memorial services, as she has donated her body to research the disease that claimed her. In her memory, we ask that you do what Ruth always did: try each day to make someone feel special. She always felt that is why we were put here.

CUSHING, Okla. - Robert Joseph Farrell of Cushing, Okla., died Wednesday, November 18, 2009, in Tulsa, Okla., at the age of 71. He was much-loved and will be sorely missed.
Born August 17, 1938, in Kingfisher, Okla., he was the fifth ofnine children born to William Thomas Farrell and Reeda Pearl (Conover) Farrell. He married Sabra Lee Deason in Cave Springs, Ark., in 1959. He graduated with an Associate of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1962 from OSU in Stillwater.
Bob began his professional life in 1962, earning numerous awards and promotions as a top-rated oil industry employee, until 1975 when he and his wife developed many successful family businesses in Little Rock, Ark. After divorcing in 1986, Bob returned to Cushing to live, while maintaining businesses in both Arkansas and Oklahoma.
He is survived by eldest daughter, LaDayne (Farrell) Hardage and husband Terry (Washington, Okla.), middle daughter, Teresa (Farrell) Jordan and husband Wayne (Little Rock, Ark.), and youngest daughter Penny (Farrell) Simmons and husband Toby (Little Rock, Ark.); along with their mother, Sabra Farrell (Little Rock, Ark.). He was also blessed with 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, three siblings, a brother-in-law and two nephews; and has five surviving siblings and their spouses, nieces and nephews. Other special friends surviving Bob includehis significant other Betty Jones; Betty’s three children; Betty’s eight grandchildren; and many others in both Oklahoma and Arkansas.

MEMPHIS - Gordon Harrison Bayless, 92, died Sunday, November 22, 2009 at Baptist Hospital following a short illness. He was born in Hope, Ark. He was an Eagle Scout and a graduate of Oklahoma Military Academy. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, 702nd Ordnance Company, 2nd Infantry Division, and he served during World War II in the Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe Campaigns. After release from active duty, he graduated from Southern Methodist University. He was an elder and Sunday school teacher at First Presbyterian Church in Hope, Ark. He retired from Weyerhaeuser Lumber Company in 1982 and enjoyed traveling, playing golf, and volunteering at Pike County Historical Society.After moving to Memphis in 2004, he enjoyed gardening, studying the history of World War II, and listening to big band music. He was the devoted husband of Victoria Kathleen Cooper Bayless for 64 years. He is survived by his daughter, Becky Bayless of Memphis. He also leaves a brother, John Barr of Tyler, Texas, a sister, Ann Spiller of Arlington, Texas, and three nephews.

MEMPHIS - Victoria Kathleen Cooper Bayless, 90, died Sunday, November 22, 2009 at home following a long illness. She was born in Gallatin County, Ill., and was a graduate of the University of Mary Hardin Baylor, followed by Engineering, Science, and Defense Training from the School of Engineering at Texas A&M University. She worked as a cartographer for Shell Oil Company in Houston, Texas, and Magnolia Oil Company in Dallas, Texas, during WWII. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Hope, Ark. She was an artist, an avid bridge player and reader. She was the devoted wife of Gordon Harrison Bayless for 64 years. She is survived by her daughter, Becky Bayless of Memphis, and a niece and nephew of Dallas, Texas.
