Apartment Fire Under Investigation

Posted: November 26, 2009 at 4:52 a.m.

— The Fayetteville Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of an apartment fire that temporarily displaced several residents Wednesday morning.

Firefighters responded to the Mountain Ranch Apartments, 549 N. Coral Canyon Loop, No. 426, about 4:20 a.m.

According to Fire Marshal Terry Lawson, the blaze started on a balcony, burned up to the next balcony and caused minor damage inside an apartment unit. The building was evacuated as firefighters extinguished the flames.

“The building is still under construction, but the main unit involved in the fire was occupied,” he said.

The four-story apartment complex reportedly had water damage from a built-in sprinkler system.

“They used salvage covers to contain most of the water damage below, but it still did quite a bit of damage to some of the units,” Lawson said.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but investigators don’t suspect any criminal circumstances, Lawson said.
