SPRINGDALE In the early going it seemed as if Williams Baptist College couldn’t miss from behind the 3-point line. In fact, during the Eagles first six attempts they didn’t miss.
But a few second-half adjustments by Ecclesia would prove to do the trick, as Ecclesia held on for an 84-76 win Tuesday in All Star Sports Arena.
After watching WBC shoot 7-of-10 from beyond the 3-point line in the fi rst half, Ecclesia regrouped to hold the Eagles to just two 3s in the second half, while guard Robert Valentine put on a shooting display of his own, scoring 15 of his game-high 20 points in the second half.
Valentine shot 4-of-4 from the 3-point line in the second half, connecting with 11 minutes, 16 seconds remaining to give the Royals (8-2) their largest lead of the game at 54-45. Senior Ryan Cooper was just as eff ective, scoring 16 points and grabbing seven rebounds to help aide the Ecclesia off ense.
Williams Baptist, which had won fi ve straight games coming into the contest, never led after the 17-minute mark of the second half. The Eagles (5-4) were able to get as close as 70-67 in the closing minutes, led by De’Varrio Watson (16 points) and Jordan Wise (18).

WOMEN — Williams Baptist took advantage of a 10-player rotation and a distinct size advantage in the win.
Ecclesia, which has just seven active players on its roster, struggled to cover the Lady Eagles front line, namely 6-foot-1 freshman Brittany Fulks, who sparked WBC with 10 fi rst-half points.
