Front Porch Memories And then there were none

ROGERS Well, once again I find myself writing another last article. Strange enough this time it is not by my choice.
Seems that circumstance has won another battle and taken one more thing that we have taken for granted.
I spoke on a local radio station on Sunday mornings for almost three years. You know, I hardly ever heard one word about the program until we were bumped by another group with more money. I was shocked at the number of people that complained about the loss of the program after it was gone.
Maybe if they had been that vocal before, it might still be there.
Seems like that attitude is natural to us all. There are always those at funerals that speak of the deceased in ways that they wished they had before they passed. How many of us wished we could go back or take back that statement or have done it differently?
So much of our freedoms are being stolen from us and our children in this nation while those of us that should be speaking sit with our hands folded and our mouths shut. Oh, but then the complaints again that flow when it’s too late! I do wonder how long we will sit backand have all that generations before us fought and died for slowly slip through our fingers while the politicians get richer and more arrogant?
It’s nothing new to observe, but none-the-less disgusting to behold. We squander our very lives every day in greed for more that can never satisfy or save while our time to serve and enjoy simply passes us by. Who knows the number of aged men and women who sit and stare day after day at a world that they could have helped to make different? None, but God of course. I seem to remember Jesus asked what profit the whole world was if a man lost his own soul?
Well, at least this time it’s not just me and my opportunity to express my thoughts and frustrations. It is the whole paper that is shutting down. I wonder how many could have made a difference or helped? I wonder how long before what once was is totally forgotten?
How many more little conveniences and privileges will pass unnoticed?
I have counted it a blessing to have had this space every other week to share a thought, a fear, a concern, and hopefully at times some truth concerning God and His word. For those who are interested, the truth I share and the ideas presented here will continue every week at Little Flock Primitive Baptist Church where I am blessed to pastor. You are always welcome. Jesus is Lord. The King James Bible is standard and salvation by the sovereign grace of God is the message. God is on His throne and Christ is ruling over His kingdom now.
Tomorrow is Thanksgiving so I suppose I should be thankful. I am indeed thankful to my God for allowing such as I an opportunity to share His glorious gospel.
I am thankful to all at the Hometown News for this space and voice. May God’s blessing be on each of you and may He be merciful to America.
Wake up northwest Arkansas! You’ll never know what you had until it’s gone.
And then there were none.
Amen.
