Bays Receives Merit Recognition

Emily Bays of Bentonville, a senior at Mercersburg Academy in Mercersburg, Pa., has been named a Commended Student by the 2010 National Merit Scholarship Program.

Hickman Receives ATU Scholarship

Hannah Hickman of Rogers, the daughter of Randy and Sonya Hickman, hasreceived a Distinguished Scholar Award from Arkansas Tech University in Russellville beginning with the fall 2010 semester.

She is a senior at Rogers Heritage High School and plans to major in physical education. She is a member of the National Honor Society and is on the Honor Roll and All-Academic Team. She has received the Chamber of Commerce award, Iron Eagle Award and Lady War Eagle Award.

Advance Program

Honors Students SILOAM SPRINGS - Several students have been namedto John Brown University’s President’s and Dean’s List of distinguished students from the Advance Degree Completion Program.

Each student is a member of the Northwest Advance Program cohort group number 06 working toward a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education.

President’s List - Vicki Holloway of Gravette and Kimberly Stewart of Fayetteville

Dean’s List - Tasha Brown of Bella Vista; Dorie DeZurik and Lasea Ellis, both of Gentry; Bartley Herring, Ryan Paskiewicz and Caleb Schultz, all of Siloam Springs; Terri Mitchell of Lincoln;

and Cassie Reid and Mark Stewart, both of Fayetteville.

The Advance Program is a degree completion program that allows students to complete their bachelor’s degree by attending classes one night a week. Classes are designed for working adults 23 years of age or older who have at least two years of prior college credit and relevant work experience Students progress through their studies as a group, taking courses in an established sequence.

Lehman Awarded ATU Scholarship

Christian Lynn Lehman ofCenterton, the daughter of Doug and Linda Lehman, has received a Collegiate Scholar Award from Arkansas Tech University in Russellville beginning with the fall 2010 semester.

She is a senior at Bentonville High School and plans on majoring in nursing.

She has received numerous academic excellence awards, is an honor student and lettered in ninth-grade varsity golf.

Society Inducts Kelly Taylor

Kelly Elizabeth Taylor of Rogers has accepted membership in the Golden Key International Honour Society and was honored during a recent induction ceremony at the University of Arkansas.

The Golden Key International Honour Society is the world’s premier collegiate honor society with more than 1.7 million members and more than 360 chapters in the United States, Australia, Canada, Malaysia, New Zealand, South Africa and the United Arab Emirates.

Taylor also was recently honored at the University ofArkansas Fulbright College Scholarship Luncheon. She is the recipient of the Dr. Allan Arthur Gilbert Sr. Premedical Scholarship, which is awarded to an outstanding student pursuing a career in medicine She is the daughter of Michael Taylor of Rogers and the late Maria Taylor.

Hale Inducted

Into Alpha Chi SILOAM SPRINGS - Erin Hale of Bentonville has been inducted into the Arkansas Lambda Chapter of Alpha Chi. Hale is a junior majoring in international business with a minor in Spanish at John Brown University.

John Brown University inducted 40 students into the Arkansas Lambda chapter of Alpha Chi on Nov. 4.

This national honor society accepts as members only junior and senior students in the top 10 percent of their class.

For the last 13 years, JBU’s Alpha Chi chapter has received the “Star Chapter Award.” The award honors chapters with high levels of activity.
