PUBLIC VIEWPOINT: Thanks For Valor Stories

I would like to thank the Morning News for all the interesting stories honoring our men and women in the military. They remind me not to take our freedoms for granted.
Only a few of these servicemen and women can be highlighted in the newspaper but each and everyone is a hero for the sacrifices made in serving their country.
I personally say a huge “thank you” to all our service people and to their families for supporting them. This is what makes me proud to be an American.

MOVE COUNTY HEALTH TO CENTER
As a local resident who is deeply concerned about the need for quality healthcare in ourregion, I want to urge the Quorum Court members to support relocating the Benton County Health Department to the Center for Nonprofits at St. Mary’s. There are many reasons that this makes sense.
First and foremost, every individual in Benton County deserves access to the very best services available for basic medical care. There’s absolutely no doubt in my mind that having our Benton County Health Department in a more centralized location will allow this organization to impact many more lives now and well into the future. Simply moving to a larger facility, where the space will be 50 percent greater than it is at the current location will be enough to help expand the scope of services available.
Certainly, the conveniences of being in a location with a public bus route, access to a major highway and much more parking would help to make this asmoother transition.
That’s really just the tip of the iceberg with this move. The close proximity to other social services will be a plus for clients. The Benton County Health Department will be able to collaborate with other organizations in the Center for Nonprofits and that is bound to result in more efficient and effective programs to help meet the rising healthcare needs as well.
I truly believe that other county and state governmental agencies across our state will use our efforts as an example to focus on working with all sectors of every local community to do what is best for everyone.
I trust that the leadership of our Benton County Quorum Court is looking at this as an opportunity to build for the future and make a difference in the lives of those who need our help.
