Police Investigate Threatening Video

Posted: November 24, 2009 at 4:50 a.m.

— A student at the Benton County School of The Arts may be expelled after posting a YouTube video threatening a guitar teacher.

The roughly 4-minute video included veiled threats against the teacher, Ben Harris, said Paul Hines, superintendent.

The student has been suspended, Hines said. He said he will recommend the student be expelled.

Rogers Police Cpl. Angel Murphy-Pearce said police are investigating, but no arrests have been made.

She said Hines reported Wednesday afternoon that a 14-year-old boy had posted the video.

The student also posted a photo to Facebook with crosshairs superimposed over a picture of the teacher, Hines said.

“That was as disturbing, if not more so, than the content of the video,” Hines said.

Hines said the video was removed Wednesday.

Hines said he was not sure whether the student posed a serious threat.

“In this day and time, you just can’t predict,” he said.
