Police Investigate 17-Year-Old’s Shooting
ONE JUVENILE IN HOSPITAL, ANOTHER IN CUSTODY FOLLOWING SUNDAY INCIDENT

A 17-year-old boy was in fair condition Monday in the critical care unit at Northwest Medical Center-Springdale following a shooting Sunday afternoon in Bethel Heights.
Police took a 15-year-old boy into custody after investigating the incident, according to a report from Sgt. Randy Johnson of the Bethel Heights Police Department.
Officers said the 17-year-old boy was shot one time in the upper right chest area while at a house at 1146 Remington Drive.
Names of the boys were withheld because they are juveniles.
The teenagers were in the house, which had no water or electricity, and were due to move out of the house the next day.
Johnson said the investigation is ongoing as police are still trying determine a motive and the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
Bethel Heights police are working closely with the Benton County Prosecutor’s Office on the investigation, Johnson said. A call to the prosecutor’s office was not returned by 5 p.m. Monday.
According to the Springdale Fire Department, which dispatched an ambulance to the scene, the incident was initially called in as a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
Paramedics found the boy who was shot in the garage.
Bethel Heights and Springdale units responded just after 4 p.m.
