Council To Approve 2010 Budget

BENTONVILLE Approval of the 2010 budget should be one of the focal points of Tuesday’s regularly scheduled City Council meeting, with the council just needing to add its final stamp.
The council has been working on the budget for the last month and even considered approving the 2010 version during its Nov. 10 meeting, said Mayor Bob McCaslin. But after working through what is expected to be a leaner proposed budget than the 2009 budget, the decision was made to wait until Tuesday to vote on final approval.
The proposed budget for 2010 was presented at the last council meeting by City Finance Director Denise Land. In the proposal, the total expenditures in the budget for 2010 would be $98,741,029, while total revenues would be projected at $99,406,829. The proposed budget also includes no raises for city employees, as Land pointed out at the Nov. 10 meeting that the funding was not available to do so.
Other items on the council’s agenda include:
A public hearing for public access easement, Superior Square addition
Awarding of bid to Danny Robinson Construction for construction of phase three of the downtown enhancement
Awarding of bid to WEG for MVA Substation Transformer
Awarding of bid for the renovation of the district court house
Authorization of an additional police corporal and police officer to the Bentonville Police Department to be filled by a certified bomb commander and certified bomb technician.
