BELLA VISTA Some people were able Saturday morning to do a little Christmas shopping as they attended the Bella Vista Village Christmas Bazaar.
The bazaar sponsored by the Bella Vista Property Owner’s Association was held at Riordan Hall where 54 vendors had set up tables.
Sylvia Camacho-Green said all the crafts and items are from vendors in Northwest Arkansas.
Although the association has hosted garage sales, Camacho-Green said Saturday’s bazaar at Riordan Hall was a first for the association.
Camacho-Green said it was the perfect time to hold the bazaar weeks after the fall arts and crafts festivals. Vendors have a location and opportunity to sell their crafts while people have a chance to pick up items for Christmas, she said.
“It’s a good time to buy gifts and take them to family and friends,” Camacho-Green said.
Laura Bender of Rogers was one of the vendors at the bazaar. She makes Christmas wreaths. Saturday’s event was the first time for her to participate in a crafts fair.
She had sold her wreaths on eBay, but prefers the craft fair setting. “I enjoy making things and meeting people,” Bender said.
Silas Byers of Bella Vista was selling framed photographs that he’s taken of Bella Vista scenery and landscapes. He also had a 2010 calendar featuring his photographs.
“It’s not as big as one of the craft fairs, but it’s nice,” Byers said. “It was well organized and planned.”
Wilma Hamilton of Bella Vista said she was pleased that they held the bazaar. Hamilton said she enjoyed looking at all of the exhibits.
Sharon Caton of Bella Vista wanted to do a little Christmas shopping.
“I can buy for Christmas now,” she said. “I usually end up sending a check.”
The bazaar is not the POA’s only planned Christmas activity. The POA will hold its Festival of Christmas Trees from Nov. 28 to Dec. 9, according to Camacho-Green.
During the 12 night event, the Christmas lights decorating the 12 White Pine Trees will be turned on one night for each tree, Camacho-Green said.
Each tree represents a local charity and the money collected from the trees will go to the individual charities, Camacho-Green said.
