‘Nutcracker’ Performances Set For Youth Ballet

The Classical Ballet Academy will perform “The Nutcracker” in two shows in December.
Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 6 and 3 p.m. Dec. 7 at the Arend Arts Center at Bentonville High School, 1901 S.E. J St.
Marissa Spear, 14, of Bentonville will dance the role of Clara, the girl who receives a nutcracker for Christmas and is transported, during a dream sequence, to a magical world of Sugar Plum fairies and villainous mice.
Guest artists Leah Gallas and Alberto Montesso, courtesy of the Tulsa Ballet, will dance the roles of the Sugar Plum Fairy and the Cavalier.
Classical Youth Ballet dancers will dance the other lead ballet roles in the second act. The cast of 85 dancers features children and adults from the community.
Lindsey Layman designed new sets and scenery for the Kingdom of the Sweets this year.
