DENTEN, Texas

Margaret Lee Fields, 92, of Denton, went home to be with her Lord Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009. She was living and being cared for at Lake Forest Good Samaritan Village, where she resided with her husband, Joe L. Fields. She was married to Joe on March 17, 1990, in Bella Vista.

Mrs. Fields was born on July 9, 1917, near Rose Hill, Kan., to Johan Rudolph and Cuckoo Martha (Hodgin) Nelson. She worked for many years in accounting for Boeing and Beech Aircraft and was a past President of “The Mother’s Club” in Wichita, Kan.

Margaret enjoyed painting and photography as hobbies and loved to keep in touch with her friends, family and extended family members. She was a member, with her husband, Joe, of the First United Methodist Church of Denton.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20, 2009, in the Mead Chapel at Lake Forest Good Samaritan Village, 3901 Montecito Drive, Denton TX, 76210. Interment will take place at a later date, to be announced, at the Bella Vista Cemetery in Bella Vista.

Mrs. Fields is survived by her husband, Joe L. Fields of Denton; daughter Karin Gould of Fairbanks, Alaska.; foster daughter Ellen Thomas of Ladson, S.C.; grandchildren Jeremiah Gould and wife, Terra, of Maitland, Fla., and Christian Schmidt of Pullman, Wash.; great-grandchildren Haley Kent and Jacob Gould of Maitland, Fla.; sister Kathryn Watts and husband, Kenneth, of Bella Vista; and stepson Robert Moses and wife, Joanne, of Corinth, Texas.

Margaret loved, and was very proud of, her extended family, who enjoyed her wit and good humor: Joe’s daughter Janice and husband, Bill Bickler, of Austin, Texas, and their children, Chris and Bret; Joe’s son Russell of Dallas; Robert’s daughter Darien Orr and husband, Bill, of Denton, and their children William and Hartlee and Robert’s son, Nick Moses and wife, Stephanie, of McKinney, Texas, and their son, Evan.

Mrs. Fields was predeceased by husbands W. Dale Smith in 1986, and Ellis C. Moses in 1988.

BELLA VISTA

Jacqueline Jeanne Watten, nee Jude, 81, of Bella Vista died Friday, Nov. 13, 2009. Jackie was surrounded by her family. Her children wish to thank Washington Regional Hospice for their compassionate care. Jackie was born March 9, 1928, in Minneapolis to Pearle Thomas and Lola Quady Jude.

Raised in Minneapolis, she graduated from Washburn High in 1946, and she earned an AA Degree from the University of Minnesota. Jackie graduated first in her nursing program from North Hennepin Community College where she served as elected class president. Following a successful career in nursing, she retired to Bella Vista with her husband.

Married to Leonard (Vern) Watten on Sept. 9, 1950, together they raised their four children. Jackie was a devoted mother, grandmother, gardener, artist, quilter and civic minded volunteer. Her experience as a docent at the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, inspired her artistic talents demonstrated in her paintings, furniture detailing, textile arts and creative quilts.

Jackie’s involvement in horticultural work and organizations included: the Richfield Garden Club, Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, Master Gardeners of Bentonville, and most recently the Garden Club of Rogers. As a Master Gardener. she taught design and gardening skills to students and coordinated several community plantings in the Bella Vista area.

Jackie served in leadership positions of volunteerism with the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW Post 9063, the American Legion Auxiliary Post 341 and as a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Jackie was preceded in death by her husband, Vern Watten, 2008.

Survivors include: sister, Suzanne Jude; four children, Lisa Watten, Barnaby Watten and wife, Dale, Meredith Watten-Jaramillo and husband, Lorenzo, and Molly Watten Merkle; eight grandchildren: Jocelyn Laurila, Adam, Jonathan and Neal Watten, Max and Wyatt Palmer, Marsden and Dickson Merkle III.

A private memorial service will be held at the Fayetteville National Cemetery. Arrangements were by the Bella Vista Funeral Home & Crematory, 2258 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista, Ark.

ROGERS

Karen Marie Poppen, 66, of Rogers died Nov. 18, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center in Rogers. She was born March 19, 1943, in Clear Lake, S.D., to William F. and Ursula Evans Hunt.

Survivors include her husband, Dean Poppen; a daughter, Ruth Lopez and husband, Gerry, of Rogers; five sisters; and two brothers.

Services are 2 p.m. Sunday at Revolution Church in Rogers. Visitation will be at 1 p.m.

Burial will be Wednesday at Albee Cemetery in Milbank, S.D.

Arrangements are by Rollins Funeral Home in Rogers.

BELLA VISTA

Edward F. Poole, 62, of Bella Vista died Nov. 19, 2009, in Bentonville. He was born May 6, 1947, in Elmira, N.Y., to Fred E. and Mary Sergant Poole.

He was a home painter and served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Survivors include his wife, Marietta; a son, Shawn Poole of Norman, Okla.; a daughter, Michele Brewer of Bella Vista; six grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

Cremation arrangements are by Benton County Funeral Home in downtown Rogers.

BENTONVILLE

Zane Flowers, 4 months old, of Bentonville died Nov. 17, 2009, in Bentonville. He was born June 23, 2009, in Bentonville to Darnelle Flowers and Jennifer Delk.

Survivors include his mother, Jennifer Delk of Bentonville; his father, Darnelle Flowers of Florida; and grandparents, Patricia Gray of Iowa and Joe Gross of California.

Services are 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Benton County Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel.
