Krupka Signs With UALR

Rogers High outfielder Marshall Krupka signed a letter of intent Friday afternoon to play at Arkansas-Little Rock.
Krupka will begin his third season in the Mounties lineup this spring as the starting center fielder. Krupka played first base as a sophomore and was in right field last year.
Last season, Krupka was one of two juniors on the All-State team from the 7A-West Conference. Krupka hit .410 with three home runs and 27 RBIs a year ago. He also had a .500 on base percentage.
“We are very excited for Marshall,” Rogers coach Matt Melson said. “Marshall has worked very hard to get to this point and he is very deserving. Marshall is a student of the game who is always looking for an edge.
“We want to develop kids into college players and this is a big deal for our program. Marshall is a five-tool kid.”
Krupka said picking UALR was an easy decision. Krupka quickly bonded with the Trojans coaching staff and he has family in the Little Rock area.
“They take good care of their players down there,” Krupka said. “They have real nice field and a nice indoor facility.”
Krupka was recruited as an outfielder and he expects to compete for playing time next year. UALR was 16-34 a year ago in Scott Norwood’s first season but Baseball America recently recognized the Trojans recruits as one of the sleeper classes in the south.
UALR has signed 20 junior college players and may have 30 newcomers.
“I know I’m going to be competing against some junior college players that they are bringing in,” Krupka said. “I think they are bringing in three high school players. It will be hard.”
