BENTONVILLE A Garfield man was released on citation Wednesday after his arrest on a hindering charge in connection with the investigation of a missing Bentonville mother and daughter.
Nicolas J. Johansen, 18, was arrested Tuesday on a charge of hindering apprehension or prosecution. Johansen is the son of Christina Bishop.
Christina Bishop, 40, and Louise Bishop, 81, were last seen June 18. The two were reported missing after family members couldn’t make contact with them.
Prosecutors have not filed formal charges against Johansen. He is scheduled to appear for arraignment at 8 a.m. Jan. 4 in Circuit Judge Robin Green’s court.
A Bentonville police news release claims Johansen was arrested after providing inconsistent statements during the investigation.
Because Johansen was released on citation police didn’t have to prepare an affidavit for bond. Police arrested Johansen on cause and didn’t have to prepare an affidavit to arrest him.
The affidavits for arrest and bond would have contained details of the allegations against Johansen.
Police have released June 18 surveillance footage that shows the Bishops leaving Sam’s Club in Bentonville in their black pickup.
The pickup was recovered in August in McDonald County, Mo.
Family members are offering up to $25,000 for information regarding the Bishops’ whereabouts.
Anyone with information concerning the Bishops is asked to call Bentonville police at 271-3175 or 271-3170. People can call police with tips or send them to reward@mail.com.
