Bisbee Plans Meeting Friday In Rogers

BENTONVILLE — County Judge Dave Bisbee and members of his staff will host a town-hall meeting in Rogers at noon Friday at the Rogers-Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce, 317 W. Walnut St.

Items Bisbee plans to discuss include the county’s adoption of a telephone notification system that will place phone calls to county residents in the event of severe weather and for other emergencies. Bisbee will also give a review of the county’s building plan.

During the meeting, Bisbee will answer questions and take comments from anyone who attends, he said, noting the goal of hosting the meetings during the lunch hour is to make his administration more accessible.

Pesticide Training Class Scheduled

BENTONVILLE — The application of restricted-use pesticides for controlling weeds, brush, insects and other pests requires agriculture producers to obtain certification through programs sanctioned by the Arkansas State Plant Board.

As a service to area producers, the Cooperative Extension Service will hold a certification class at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 3 at the Public Services Building Auditorium on Arkansas 102 in Bentonville.

Due to EPA funding reductions, the Cooperative Extension Service must charge for certification training. The class fee is $10, and is payable at the conclusion of the program. The class fee is separate from the license fee ($45 per five-year, or $10 per one-year license), which producers pay the Arkansas State Plant Board when submitting their application.

Auditorium space is limited, so producers must RSVP by calling 271-1060 or by contacting Benton County Extension Agent Robert Seay via e-mail at Rseay@uaex.edu.
