Ruth D. Hyde

NORMAN, Okla. — Ruth D. Hyde, 84, of Norman, Okla., died Nov. 16, 2009, at Deaconess Hospital in Oklahoma City. Born Nov. 10, 1925, to George Carter Jr. and Estella Mae Letts Carter at 5 Walnut St. in Bordentown, N.J.

Married Truman S. Hyde of Bladen Springs, Ala., on Dec. 4, 1948, and traveled the world as a military family. She retired to Rogers, Ark., in 1970 where she made her home for 32 years. Ruth worked for the Civil Service for many years and retired from Stitt Energy Systems of Rogers, Ark.

She is survived by Susan Walker of Edmond, Okla., and Peter Hyde of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.

She was preceded in death by husband, Truman S. Hyde; sister Marjorie Carter Weisgarber and brother-in-law John Weisgarber of Trenton, N.J.; brother-in-law George Horner of Bordentown, N.J.; great-niece Sherry Ann Stevenson of Edgewater Park, N.J.; and cherished friend Milton.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Santa Rosa Beach Community Church, P.O. Box 1723, Santa Rosa Beach, FL, 32459.

Lawrence H. Schmieding

SPRINGDALE — Lawrence H. Schmieding died Monday, Nov. 16, 2009, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale. He was born Oct. 6, 1920, in Lincoln, Neb., to August Henry and Martha Beckman Schmieding.

Lawrence owned and operated Schmieding Produce. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army. He founded the Schmieding Center for Seniors. He was a member of the Springdale Country Club and the Elks Club. He was a honorary member of the Board of Directors of ILC in New York. He was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church in Springdale.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Schmieding of the home; one son, Rick Sharpe and wife Ellina of Springdale; one daughter, Pamela English and husband, Marty, of Springdale; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Saturday, Nov.. 21, 2009 at 1 p.m. at Salem Lutheran Church in Springdale with Pastor Mark Q.L. Louderback officiating. Burial will be in the Bluff Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale.

Pallbearers will be Kyle Underwood, Darin Montgomery, Lance Taylor, Larry Sipes, Kendal Douthit, John Lauber, Gary Neil and Bob Rokeby. Honorary pallbearers will be V.H. Taylor, Carl Richardson, Fred Smith, Dorman Delp, John Coan, Dean Williams, Al Partain, Gary Owens, Gene George, Sandy Boone, Walter Turnbow and Lonnie Watson.
