FAYETTEVILLE Water Authority Issues Boil Order
FAYETTEVILLE — The Washington Water Authority has issued a boil order for part of its water system serving an area west of Greenland along Arkansas 265 north of Wilson Street to Pear Lane.
The order, according to authority General Manager Josh Moore, is a precautionary measure because contaminated water may have entered the water distribution system as a result of a main break.
The Arkansas Department of Health has confirmed the order, which advises that any water used for drinking or food preparation should be boiled briskly for one minute prior to use. All ice cubes should be discarded and only boiled water used for making ice.
The boil order will remain in effect until further notice after the problem has been corrected. Moore said that may be the latter part of this week or early next week.
