— Army Spc. Justyn Hornor of Lowell was selected as the Distinguished Honor Graduate for outstanding overall performance throughout the duration of Advanced Individual Training.

In addition to the Distinguished Honor Graduate title, Hornor was awarded the Army Achievement Medal and the JAG Corps Regimental Coin of Excellence.

The Distinguished Honor Graduate is reserved for the soldier who maintains the combined highest GPA and physical fitness scores throughout training. Additionally, the soldier cannot have received any form of counseling for behavior and must be vetted by his instructors and sergeants.

Hornor attended Advanced Individual Training at the Paralegal Specialist School in Fort Jackson, S.C. The paralegal program is known for recruiting soldiers with top test scores, making the academic element of the program highly competitive.

Hornor will serve in the Arkansas National Guard with the 39th Infantry Brigade based in Conway. He resides in Lowell with his wife, Tara, and son, Justyn Hornor II.
