Police Look Into Counterfeit Bills

Police are investigating a counterfeit money scam that targeted at least one local night club last weekend.

Officers were contacted by a representative of Willy D’s piano bar at 216 W. Dickson St. at about 9:45 a.m. Monday.

According to a 911 dispatch call, the caller stated the bar received approximately $500 worth of counterfeit bills over the weekend. The suspects were caught on camera passing the counterfeit money, according to the call.

Fayetteville Police Sgt. Bill Phelan said no arrests had been made as of Tuesday evening, but that the case was being investigated.
