SPRINGDALE Student Named Harvest Finalist
Stephanie Robbins of Farmington has been named a finalist for Oklahoma BaptistUniversity’s Harvest Court.
Robbins was nominated by her peers for the category Robbins of Harvest Queen. She is a senior and a secondary English education major.
Students will vote on the finalists, and the winnerswill be announced during the Harvest Court ceremony.
Birke Receives New Scholarship
John Birke of Fayetteville, a senior missions major at Harding University in Searcy,is one of the first 11 recipients of the $5,000 per year Louis Yingling Family Endowed Scholarship.
Birke, who became involved in missions through a martialarts program, will continue to use martial arts in an outreach ministry, building relationships with people and then introducing them to the word of God.
Harding draws funding for this Bible major scholarship from an estate left to the University by the late Louie Yingling.
Local Student Earns Degree
Jesse Core of Springdale was among the nearly 250 graduates who received diplomas in summer commencement exercises atHarding University in Searcy.
Core received a Bachelor of Arts.
Parker Named Leader At KU
Maggie Elizabeth Parker of Bella Vista has been chosen as one of the student leaders for the University of Kansas’ Department of Student Housing.
She is a resident assistant in the McCollum Residence Hall at the Lawrence campus.
The daughter of Brenda Parker, she is a film and media studies major.
