Colton’s Doing Its Part For Sharing And Caring

ROGERS Colton’s Steakhouse here hopes to help make Christmas a little brighter for children in need and a little less stressful for their parents.
To do that, the restaurant is having a raffle. For a $2 ticket, Colton’s customers will be entered into a Dec. 23 drawing where one lucky customer will win a Red Ryder BB gun from Daisy, a copy of “A Christmas Story” on DVD and a tour of the Daisy plant in Rogers.
While touring the plant, the winner will also be able to build their own Daisy air rifle, a prize that Donna Fair, the marketing coordinator for Colton’s Steakhouse, calls priceless.
“We are just trying to do something to help give back to the community. It is sad to imagine a kid not having something to open on Christmas morning,” Fair said.
All of the money raised by the raffle will be donated to Sharing and Caring of Benton County.
This year, Sharing and Caring has a list of 5,091 children in Benton County whose parents are looking for help providing Christmas presents.
With 1,060 children on the list who have yet to be sponsored, Irene Medrano, the director of Sharing and Caring, is excited to have help from Colton’s.
Families who are seeking help from Sharing and Caring “are having a very difficult time. The one thing that I saw this year is I have never noticed so many people who are unemployed. We are just in a hard year and these families are having a hard time just buying groceries,” Medrano said.
For Fair, the choice to help was simple.
“I know that times are hard and everybody is hurting, but for the price of a cup of coffee I would rather make sure a kid has Christmas than my morning coffee,” Fair said.
Colton’s Steakhouse is at 4700 W. Locust St. in Rogers.
