SPRINGDALE

Max Low Dawson, 82, of Springdale died Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009, at Circle of Life in Springdale.

Max was born in Mitchell County, Texas, on Oct. 21, 1927, a son of James T. and Asilie Evelyn (Low) Dawson. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and retired as a National Director Fleet Operations at Borden Inc. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 51 years, Wanda Jean Dawson; three brothers; three sisters; and two grandchildren, Danny Arnold and Katie Arnold.

He is survived by one son, Dennis J. Dawson and wife, Jean, of Fayetteville; two daughters, Denise Ann Arnold of Springdale and Darla Jean Allen and husband, Dave, of Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Debbie Neill, Lynn Arnold, Chad Dawson, Courtney Allen, Whitney Wood, Shawn Dawson and Kimmie Arnold; three great-grandchildren, Cory Neill, Tyler Neill and Averie Lovette; one sister, Alene Rae Cradoct of San Antonio, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home in Springdale from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009.

Funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 9 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009, with the Rev. Dale Johnston officiating.

Pallbearers will be Chad Dawson, Shawn Dawson, Loren Rohl, Frank Mumme, Tom Nugen and Cory Neill.

Committal service to follow at 11 a.m. at Fayetteville National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Circle of Life Hospice, 901 Jones Road, Springdale, AR, 72762.

ELKINS

Corrine Elizabeth Miner of Elkins died Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009, at her home. She was the daughter of Ralph Uhl and Ada Ellen Andrews.

She was owner and operator of Elkins Beauty Shop for 51 years and was preceded in death by her husband, Granville “Babe” Miner, and a son, William Ray Miner. She had been a resident of Elkins for 57 years.

Survivors include a daughter, Marilyn Ledford of Elkins; sister, Delores Tuck of Fayetteville; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009, at Beards Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Glen Faulkner officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens Cemetery following the service, under the direction of Beard’s Chapel.

The family will receive friends at Beards Chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday.

HUNTSVILLE

Henry Edward Robbins, 77, died Nov. 13, 2009, at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Fayetteville. He was born May 17, 1932, in Princeton, Texas, to Walter and Ruth Visart Robbins.

He had retired from Safeway Stores after 32 years and then Madison County government after 10 years. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Smalling Robbins; two sons, Steven Dewain Robbins of Dallas and Bobby Edward Robbins of Huntsville; a sister; a granddaughter.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Brashears Funeral Home in Huntsville.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Fayetteville National Cemetery.

SPRINGDALE

Charles Henry Reaves, 82, of Springdale passed away Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009, in his home.

He was born Sept. 11, 1927, in Childress, Texas, to Henry and Lela Reaves. He was a successful businessman in New Mexico, inclusive of a John Deere dealership, insurance agent, real estate agent, mechanic and a leader in his community. The family moved to the Viney Grove Community, Prairie Grove, in 1965 where he was a rancher, real estate agent, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, a neighborly gentleman and devoted to his faith in God through his dedication to his church ,which was the First Church of Christ Scientist in Fayetteville.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Francil Lee, on March 26, 2009. He is survived by two sons, Jimmy Reaves and wife, Janice, of Farmington and Steven Reaves and wife, Rhonda, of Hogeye; two daughters, Karen Rogers and husband, Bob, of Springdale and Gail Jordan and husband, Ron, of Springdale; eight grandchildren, Alicia Niccum, Chad Reaves, Julie Calhoon, Jennifer Barton, Corrina Howard, Charles Jordan, Kara Rogers and Audrey Rogers; 13 great-grandchildren; and his beloved dog, Sally.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, in the Chapel of Nelson-Berna Funeral Home.

SPRINGDALE

Betty Jean DeShields, 59, died Nov. 14, 2009, at the Northwest Medical Center in Springdale. She was born Aug. 4, 1950, in Siloam Springs to Jim and Betty Jane Misner Pike.

She was a homemaker and of the Pentecostal faith.

Survivors include her husband, James Richard DeShields; three sons, Richard Dewayne DeShields of Springdale, James Virgil DeShields of Bald Knob and Spc. Christopher Cordale DeShields of War Eagle; a daughter, Renee Sain of McPherson, Kan.; two brothers, including Charlie Reed of Springdale; two sisters, Linda Phillips and Linda Yent, both of Huntsville; 15 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

Arrangements were by Brashears Funeral Home of Huntsville.

LOWELL

Calvin C. Miller Jr., 51, of Lowell, died Nov. 14, 2009, in Springdale. He was born Aug. 31, 1958, to Calvin C. and Martha Sue Jones Miller,

He was a floor supervisor for George’s Inc., and attended Lowell Rotary Club.

He is survived by his wife, Sandy; father, C.C. Miller of Rome, Ga.; two daughters, Michelle Doss of The Colony, Texas, and Aimee Walton of Houston, Texas; a son, Jonathan Durham of Fayetteville; five grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home.
