Bentonville Man Pleads Not Guilty To Rape
Posted: November 17, 2009 at 4:23 a.m.
BENTONVILLE Troy Wayne Fletcher of Bentonville appeared Monday in a Benton County courtroom where he pleaded not guilty to raping a 14-year-old girl.
Fletcher, 47, spent nearly three years on the run attempting to evade the rape charge and federal child pornography charges, according to court documents.
Fletcher is charged with rape, a class Y felony punishable with a prison sentence ranging from 10 to 40 years or life. He entered the plea at an arraignment before Circuit Judge Robin Green.
Court documents reflect that a teenage girl accused Fletcher of raping her. The federal charges stem from suspected images of child pornography allegedly found on Fletcher’s computer. Fletcher is also accused of having a teenage girl take nude photographs of one of her friends and sending them to him with her cell phone, according to court documents.
Fletcher faces up to 50 years in prison if convicted on the federal charges.
His jury trial for the rape charge is scheduled to begin Feb. 2. Pretrial hearings are set for Dec. 21 and Feb. 1.
Fletcher was supposed to turn himself in on the rape charge in December 2006. However, according to court documents, he cut off an ankle monitor and disappeared.
He was arrested Oct. 1 after being apprehended in Indian Point, Mo.
Fletcher is being in the Benton County Jail on $150,000 bond for the rape charge. He is being held without bond on the federal charges.
