— The Bella Vista Property Owners Association is asking residents to donate food for Thanksgiving baskets. Sixteen families — eight from Cooper Elementary School and eight from Gravette Public Schools — will be the recipients.

“Thanksgiving is a time for family, and we want to do what we can to make this Thanksgiving a happy memory for our families,” said Amy Collins, a counselor at Cooper Elementary School.

Financial donations will be accepted at The Weekly Vista office and the Bella Vista Country Club for fresh produce to be purchased the weekend before distribution. Checks should be made out to the Bella Vista POA. Turkeys are expected to be donated from business sources.

Collection will end Nov. 19. The baskets will be delivered Nov. 23. Any extra food will be donated to local food banks.

Items needed are canned vegetables and cranberries; canned pie fillings and pie crusts; staples such as flour, sugar and coffee; stuffing or cornbread mix; canned or packaged gravy; nuts; and napkins.

Donations can be dropped off at:

Riordan Hall, 7 Kingsdale Lane, from 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday;
