PUBLIC VIEWPOINT Response On School Priorities

Posted: November 14, 2009 at 4:59 a.m.

In the Letter “Get Area School Priorities Right,” I was sympathizing with Ms.

Spencer on the failure of the millage increase to build a new high school, at least until she convoluted this bipartisan issue to vent her partisan views of the Republicans, the tea party, and the Republican Party. I do not know a Republican that doesn’t think for themselves or that blindly follows anyone - if we did, McCain would be president instead of Obama.

Unfortunately, the Party didn’t listen to those it is supposed to be representing who did not want a moderate/liberal and stayed home rather than support one. Unlike the Democrats who decided to blindly vote a straight ticket whether they supported the views of the candidate or not, Republicans are losing because they refuse to stop thinking. As a result our Republic and Democracy are indanger with Capitalism rapidly being ushered out and Socialism rapidly being ushered in. This was the underlying fear of those thoughtful teaparty participants and what they were protesting - and, by the way, their only pay was the opportunity to stand up for what they believe.

It may be that people did not vote for the school in Fayetteville because they were afraid that Obamanomics are not going to leave them enough money to eat and pay rent much less do anything else. The new health care bill alone that just passed the House is going to take a huge chunk away from everyone and under threat of jail time for those who refuse to pay.

As to building prisons, had the Liberals not taken discipline out of our schools and society, maybe we would not need so many.

The comments about rich and poor - let’s not forget that it is those rich people who make jobsfor us poor.

I hear Ms. Spencer’s frustration, but taking more and more money away from people through taxation (particularly federal) is not going to get new schools built. We will have less and less say as to how our money is spent to say nothing about the cost of the bureaucracy and huge salaries it creates - again, look at the national health care and what that bureaucracies is going to cost us. I believe people are scared when it comes to their finances.

I part with this last reminder: It was not the Republicans who blindly elected a man too young to have wisdom and who lacks background or experience to qualify him for the job of President and I predict that this nation and freedom will suffer greatly.
