Alcohol Sweep Finds Most Compliant

Police cited three downtown restaurants Wednesday night for selling alcohol to minors.
A random compliance check involved sending underage patrons and undercover officers into 29 restaurants and bars, said Cpl. Rick Crisman.
“We’d love to see 100 percent compliance, but 90 percent isn’t bad,” Crisman said.
Citations were issued to servers at Jammin’ Java, Dickson Street Inn and Emelia’s for unknowingly furnishing alcohol to a minor, Crisman said.
“We gave the tickets to the people who actually served the drinks,” he said.
Agents from the Arkansas Alcoholic Beverage Control Board were also involved, Crisman said.
Reports of the violations will be forwarded to ABC director Michael Langley. The holders of alcohol permits at the three ticketed locations could also face fines or suspension of their liquor licenses, he said.
