Man Arrested In Rape Investigation

Posted: November 12, 2009 at 4:19 a.m.

Lowell police arrested a man Tuesday in connection with the rape of a girl in her early teens, Chief Joe Landers said.

Arrested was William L. Boyd, 37, of 400 McClure Ave.

The incident occurred a few weeks ago at a Lowell residence, Landers said. The girl told a family member, who took her to police to report the alleged rape.

The girl was interviewed at the Children’s Advocacy Center. Police interviewed Boyd and gave him a polygraph examination. Police had probable cause to arrest Boyd after interviewing him, Landers said.

Boyd was being held Wednesday in the Benton County Jail on a $100,000 bond, according to jail records.
