Siloam Holds Scrimmage

SILOAM SPRINGS The Johnny Taylor-era at Siloam Springs is officially under way.
The Panthers basketball team held its annual Maroon-Gray scrimmage Monday at Panther Arena, and the fi rstyear coach got a good look at his team as Maroon beat Gray 28-18.
Senior Justin Gray scored 16 points playing for both teams on the night. Gray, originally pl ay ing fo r Maroon, scored eight of his team’s first 12 points as Maroon opened up a 17-5 lead.
“Justin’s a senior and handsdown was our best o◊ensive player tonight,” Taylor said.
After a 3-pointer from Maroon’s Adam Hodge made it 26-7, Gray and 6-foot-5 freshman Payton Henson switched to the Gray team, which closed the game on an 11-2 run.
Junior Kyle Teague scored nine points to lead Gray.
Gray 31, Maroon 21 GIRLS - Coming o◊a state runner-up finish last year, the Lady Panthers hope to be contenders in 2009-10.
However, Monday’s sloppy scrimmage didn’t surprise coach Debbie Sharp.
“Having only practiced four days, it’s about what we expected,” said Sharp.
