— A Louisiana man remained in jail Monday after a police dog found a half-pound of suspected cocaine in the vehicle he was driving Friday, according to a news release.

A Benton County Sheriff’s Office crime suppression unit deputy pulled the vehicle over Friday on Interstate 540 for a traffic violation, according to the report. A dog walked around the vehicle and gave the alert for drugs.

Deputies found the suspected cocaine in a compartment in the back of the vehicle, according to the report. They arrested the driver, Terance Phillips, 26, of Alexandria, La.

He was being held in the Benton County Jail on a $50,000 bond in connection with felony possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, according to jail records.
