— A clothing and home accessories boutique, a barbecue restaurant and a flea market all recently opened in Rogers, taking space in vacant commercial real estate.

LC Moda Boutique and Gallery opened Oct. 31 at 2203 Promenade Blvd., Suite 4120, in Rogers. LC Moda is in Pinnacle Hills Promenade in western Rogers, in the space adjacent to clothing store Wet Seal.

Arty Crafty was in the space LC Moda now occupies, but Arty Crafty moved to a different space in the mall’s Dillard’s wing.

LC Moda sells accessories, shoes, dresses, other clothing, handbags and home decor items, according to its Facebook page.

This is the first retail store Luz Coello has owned, but she worked for 12 years for Sears and has worked in New York City department stores. Coello said she would spend this weekend at market in New York to find unique, specialty items for her Rogers store.

LC Moda has about 3,000 square feet, with one full-time employee and three working part-time, Coello said. She is hiring additional help for the holidays.

Coello said she invested about $40,000 to open LC Moda, including buying initial inventory, lease costs and minor renovations.

LC Moda will offer layaway to help strapped consumers in tough economic times, Coello said. Customers can put 3 percent down on their layaway purchases and have 60 days to pay off and get the items, she said.

Downtown diners looking for a lunch or dinner can go to Oink Moo Barbecue, opening in late November at 2405 N. Second St., which used to be a payday lending business.

The building has about 1,400 square feet and will have three full-time employees, said owner Gayle Meeds. He is spending about $8,000 on renovations and equipment.

Meeds said he hasn’t owned a restaurant before but started his own business after he stopped working in construction about two years ago.

Oink Moo Barbecue will serve smoked meats, sandwiches, ribs and traditional side items like potato salad and beans. Meals will cost $5 to $10, Meeds said.

The Rose Too Flea Market Emporium opened Oct. 15 at 1140 W. Walnut St. in Rogers. Gayle Nelson and Sharon McCarver, who owns The Rose flea market at 2875 W. Walnut St., partnered to open The Rose Too, Nelson said.

Rose Too has about 8,400 square feet and approximately 60 vendor booths selling items from kitchen ware and home decor to vintage magazines and art prints, jewelry and antique furniture, Nelson said.

She and McCarver lease the building and spent about $5,000 to open Rose Too, Nelson said.
