NorthWest Arkansas Community College will hold three events commemorating the country’s veterans, beginning Wednesday at the college’s Student Center.
The Veterans Day Open House will begin at 11 a.m. in room 108 of the Student Center. The college will dedicate its new Veteran and Disabled Resource centers, and feature guest speaker George Westmoreland, the civilian aide to the Secretary of Army for Arkansas.
On Friday, the college will host a brown-bag lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at its Bella Vista satellite campus, College at the Crossing. Although topics discussed at the College of the Crossing’s vary from month to month, Friday’s luncheon will focus on veterans’ issues with guest speaker Richard Hoback, coordinator for Benton County Veterans Services. The luncheon will take place on the lower level of the Highlands Crossing Center, 1801 Forest Hills Blvd.
On Friday evening, NWACC will feature a performance from Fayetteville rock band Age of Liberty. The concert, held at the White Auditorium in Burns Hall, will begin at 8 p.m. The performance will feature live music, and include opportunities for student veterans to share their stories.
