Center For Non-Profits Recognized With State Award

Posted: November 9, 2009 at 6:05 a.m.

— The Center for Nonprofits was recognized last month at a meeting of the Arkansas Community Development Society with the Innovative Community Development Program Award, according to a news release.

The center was described as “a prime example of a public/private partnership between the business community, city and regional government, and the nonprofit sector.”

The former St. Mary’s Hospital has been renovated to become the center after a request was approved by the Vatican and Mercy Health System agreed to donate the facility to the Jones Trust for the establishment of a center for nonprofit organizations.

The center is home to the Benton County Women’s Shelter, Community Clinic, Saving Grace, ALS Association of Northwest Arkansas, Catholic Charities of Arkansas, Experience Works, First Tee, Mercy Home Health Services, Mercy Medical Supply, NorthWest Arkansas Community College Culinary Arts, Youth Bridge and a Rogers Police Department substation.
