BRIEFLY: Rogers Educator To Speak To AAUW

The Bentonville/Bella Vista Branch of the AAUW is hosting Deb Walter from the Crossroads Alternative School in Rogers at their Nov. 14 meeting.
She will discuss the educational program provided at Crossroads for at-risk youth, ages 13 to 18.
Walter was named the 2007 National Physical Education Teacher of the Year at the high school level by the National Association for Sport and Physical Education.
The meeting is from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the Bentonville Public Library, 405 S. Main St. Those planning to attend are asked to RSVP to Laura Livingston at laura_l_livingston@yahoo.com or by calling 479-899-1330.
The meeting is free and open to anyone interested in the program or in joining the AAUW.
Annual Leaf Pickup Begins
ROGERS — The city’s annual leaf pickup is scheduled to begin Nov. 23. Bags of leaves must be separated from household trash. Bags should be curbside on Monday of the scheduled pick-up week no later than 7 a.m. Each household will be limited to 30 bags.
Bagged leaves will be collected during the week of your regular trash collection day.
The Pickup schedule is:
Tuesday: Nov. 23-28
Wednesday: Nov. 30 to Dec. 5
Thursday: Dec. 7-12
Friday: Dec. 14-19
Free Document Shredding Day Set
ROGERS — A free document shredding day is scheduled for SaturdayNov. 14 in Rogers.
The event is sponsored by KHOG television and Shred-it.
Residents may bring up to five boxes of documents to be shredded onsite for free. Businesses will not be allowed to shred material.
Hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the southeast parking lot of Frisco Station Mall at Dixieland Road and Walnut Street.
Support The Troops Northwest Arkansas will have volunteers collecting donations for local soldiers serving overseas.
