FAYETTEVILLE The Washington County Fire Marshal’s Office has labeled the cause of a house fire near Lincoln on Wednesday as undetermined.
“We’ve concluded the investigation, and there was nothing suspicious,” Laurie Roy, assistant fire marshal, said.
Volunteer firefighters from Lincoln, Cincinnati, Prairie Grove and Farmington responded to 12098 Arkansas 59 just after 5:45 p.m.
Teddy French Sr., 66, said he was home alone when he smelled burning plastic. When he went outside, he saw smoke coming from the roof vents and the attic of an apartment at the west end of the house. French said his stepson lived in the apartment but was not home at the time.
The fire was contained to the attic of the apartment. No injuries were reported.
