SPRINGDALE Gina and Neal Pendergraft opened their Fayetteville party barn the afternoon of Nov. 1 for a wine and cheese reception for the U.S. Marshals Museum, to be located in Fort Smith.
Third District Rep. John Boozman, R-Rogers, and Sen.
Blanche Lincoln and Sen. Mark Pryor were on hand to lend their support to the national museum to honor the federal law enforcement agency founded in 1879.
The three have introduced legislation for the museum to have its own commemorative coin to mark the agency’s 225th anniversary. If that comes to pass, the museum would receive $5 million to be used toward construction of the museum. Only two commemorative coins are made each year.
Sen. Lincoln encouraged guests to help make the national museum part of Arkansas’ “corridor of destination,” that includes the William J. Clinton Presidential Library in Little Rock, Garvan Woodland Gardens in Hot Springs and Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville.
Those mingling on behalf of the museum included Ann and U.S. District Judge Robert Dawson, Mary Ellen and Brad Jesson, Mary Beth Jesson Brooks, Rosamond and David Banks, Dick Trammel, Lewis Epley, Denise and Hershey Garner and Becky Paneitz.
Thursday was the first sunny Thursday in about a dozen weeks and perfect for the 23rd annual Washington Regional Hospice Autumn Brunch.
Merry Lee and Jim Phillips opened their north Fayetteville home to approximately 275 hospice supporters to enjoy brunch donated by Catering Concepts and a chance to win a ring donated by Blakeman’s Fine Jewelry.
Event chairwoman Athina McLendon and hospice medical director Dr. Stan Bradley recognized Mark McQueen of Game On, Kacee and Shar Vojdani of Catering Concepts and Don Blakeman for their continuing support of the organization and its events.
Those basking in the sun for brunch included Butch Clinton, Gen Broyles, T. Fuller, Janet Hendren, Ann Rosso, Joyce Stafford, Janie Chambers, Janel McQueen and Denise Garner.
The seventh annual 5x5 Auction and Jazz Soiree to benefit the Arts Center of the Ozarks drew a crowd of more than 400 arts patrons Thursday evening.
More than 350 works on 5-inch-by-5-inch canvases produced by 260 local artists brought in an estimated $9,500 for the center.
Those in the market for petite paintings, pastels and pottery included Bill Rogers, Connie Hendrix-Kral and Tim Kral, Gaye and Jim Cypert, Emily Kaitz and John Threet.
