PEA RIDGE It was all Blackhawk seniors in Pea Ridge’s 30-12 win over Berryville on Friday in Blackhawk Stadium.
Running back Tyler Ramsey rushed for 132 yards on 27 carries, while quarterback Ethan Rhine threw for 58 yards and rushed for 69 more, including three touchdowns on the ground. Fullback Javier Torres added 59 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries.
“It was a great way to end the season and go into the offseason on a positive note. Big for our seniors; we’re losing some good ones. It’s awesome for them to finish strong and we’re as proud as we can be,” Pea Ridge coach Tony Travis said.
Pea Ridge seniors accounted for all 30 Blackhawk points in their final game, including two extra points by Rhine and a pair of two-point conversion tosses by Rhine to Ramsey and Kyle Westerdale. Ramsey also had two interceptions at safety.
“Ramsey has been big for us all year long. We’re going to miss him. We’ve got 12 seniors we’re losing, and I wish they were all sophomores coming back,” Travis said.
The Blackhawks (2-8, 1-6 4A-1) scored first on a 9-yard option run by Rhine, but Berryville (1-8-1, 0-7) answered on its fi rst o◊ensive series with a 30-yard touchdown pass on fourth down from Eric Holman to Ryan Nance.
After a failed two-point conversion by the Bobcats, Pea Ridge went on to score 23 unanswered points behind two quarterback sweeps for scores by Rhine and a 6-yard touchdown run by Torres.
