— A nonprofit group that supports the operation of Fayetteville National Cemetery will hold a 5K run Saturday to raise money to expand the cemetery’s borders.

The Veterans Memorial 5K race, organized by the Regional National Cemetery Improvement Corp., will start at 8 a.m. at the cemetery on Government Street in south Fayetteville, just south of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

Registration begins at 6 a.m. and continues until 7:45 a.m. The entry fee is $25.

The course will run from the national cemetery north to Wilson Park then back to the cemetery.

The group intends to use money raised to purchase property along Hill Street to be added to the existing cemetery.
