JUNIOR HIGH FOOTBALL ROUNDUP: Lingle Preserves Win With Goal-Line Stand

— Ryan Moreland recorded two sacks, Jeremy Spiekes added four tackles for loss and Rogers Lingle came up with a goal-line stand to preserve its 13-8 win over Oakdale on Thursday.

Jose Campos scored on a 13-yard touchdown run, and Brandon Gates returned a kickoff 75 yards for a touchdown for Lingle, which has outscored itslast three opponents by a 109-12 margin. Gates also teamed with Zach Phalen to stop Oakdale at the goal line, and Spiekes finished with nine tackles.

Braxton Jester threw two touchdown passes and ran foranother score to lead Southwest to a win over Central.

Jester completed a 6-yard touchdown pass to Colton Wetzler to give Southwest an early lead, and he connected with Jordan Dennis on a 25-yard strike to extend their advantage to 22-6 at halftime. Gus Vitt also broke a 60-yard touchdown run in the firsthalf. Wetzler and Matt Sherry each intercepted a pass for Southwest, which fi nished the season 8-2. The loss dropped Central to 6-4.
