Teen Shoots Himself In Shoulder

FAYETTEVILLE A 17-year-old was transported to Washington Regional Medical Center on Tuesday night after reportedly shooting himself in the shoulder with his mother’s gun by accident.
According to a 911 dispatch call, Fayetteville police responded to 944 N.
Meadowlands Place at about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday for a possible shooting victim. The teen’s mother told police she was in the shower when she heard a gunshot from the garage. When she went to see what happened, she reportedly found her son bleeding inside her car. The teen reportedly found his mother’s pistol inside her car and was attempting to put bullets back in theweapon, when it discharged. He su◊ered a gunshot wound to his right shoulder. He was taken to the medical center where he was treated and released. Fayetteville Police Sgt. Bill Phelan said he didn’t believe the teen’s injury to be critical.
“From what I’ve heard, he’s doing OK,” Phelan said. “I don’t think he had any injuries that were life-threatening.”
